Bowers & Wilkins Drops Px8 S2 Flagship Headphones

“The best headphone Bowers & Wilkins has ever made” is the confident statement announcing the new Px8 S2, the company’s new flagship wireless headphones.

Naturally, seeing it’s Bowers & Wilkins’ hero personal audio product, the Px8 S2 wireless headphones feature a host of bespoke technologies, including the company’s new custom-designed drivers. The bespoke drivers feature a lightweight 40 mm Carbon Fiber Cone that extends the sonic performance by combining the transducers with a powerful 24-bit DSP engine. The drivers incorporate a newly-designed magnet system and improved chassis, and revised voice coils and suspension scheme.

The onboard DSP engine provides 24-bit/96 kHz resolution and features Qualcomm’s latest aptX Adaptive and aptX Lossless wireless technologies. These Bluetooth versions have been optimised to provide superb wireless performance from “compatible” smartphones, tablets, and computers via high-resolution music providers like Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music and more. Music can be streamed via the free Music App, with the app allowing full control of the Px8 S2’s functions, including ‘Transparency Mode’, charge level monitoring, wear sensor sensitivity, and much more (many of the features can also be accessed via the Px8 S2’s redesigned physical buttons). The ‘True Sound’ feature can also be set via the app and is a sound quality setting that has been designed by the Bowers & Wilkins acoustic team. Wired connectivity features both 3.5 mm jack and USB-C, with both cable types included in the package.

Active Noise Cancellation technology is said to be the most powerful Bowers & Wilkins has produced. The superb noise suppression claims “zero compromise” in terms of affecting sound quality. This is achieved by the inclusion of eight microphones positioned around the outside of the earcups. Two dedicated microphones ensure excellent voice clarity and appropriate external noise suppression via ‘ADI Pure Voice’ technology.

Again, the claim is that the Px8 S2 “delivers our best sound quality ever”. Bowers & Wilkins’ engineers have also managed to embody these technologies into a slimmer overall package that is said to be more comfortable to wear in prolonged listening sessions. Regarding long sessions, the Px8 S2 will provide 30 hours of battery life with ANC. A 15 minute quick charge will offer an additional eight hours of use.

Reflecting its status as a flagship product, the Px8 S2 features luxurious materials and immaculate craftsmanship. Nappa leather, brushed aluminium, and high quality braided cabling highlight the construction materials. Improvements have also been made in terms of the headphones’ mechanical stiffness. Bowers & Wilkins is offering two colour choices in a light ‘Warm Stone’ and ‘Onyx Black’ finishes.

The new Bowers & Wilkins Px8 S2 top-of-the-line wireless headphones are said to be available from 24 September 2025.
