Cyrus Debuts New Full Width 80 Series

Due for arrival in time for Christmas 2025, the new 80 Series from Cyrus represents the evolution of the company’s famed half width products to a standard size allowing enhanced circuit design and product functionality.

After 40 years producing the company’s trademark award-winning half width electronics, Cyrus announces the 80 series as a “new beginning” for the company. As a starting point, the 80 series introduces a trio of advanced electronic components featuring the 80 AMP integrated amplifier, 80 PRE streaming preamplifier and the 80 PWR bridgeable power amplifier. Cleverly, the 80 series’ width is an exact doubled extension of Cyrus’ acclaimed 40 series products. This allows mixing-and-matching between two 40 series products side-by-side to perfectly size-coordinate with the width of an 80 series product.

A further benefit of the full sized chassis width is the opportunity for Cyrus engineers to fine-tune circuit design. Potentially, the extra internal real estate and the circuit’s electronic parts separation can reduce inter-component interactions. Further, Cyrus engineers have the added freedom to employ larger, higher capacity transformers, re-rout signal paths, etc.

While comprehensive details and full specifications are still due to be announced, the 80 AMP integrated amplifier is said to provide a solid 150 watts per channel in Class-A/B. The 80 AMP will feature on-board BluOS streaming capabilities that, of course, should offer wireless multi-room, high-resolution streaming service options from Tidal, Spotify, Qobuz, and many more. Aesthetic design aspects also tie the 80 AMP with the 40 line’s products, such as the chassis’ bevelled bottom corners, the high quality monochrome display graphics, the white LED backlighting, and the solid casework.

Going into separates, in terms of amplification, will see the 80 PRE and 80 PWR as the perfect match while also keeping the option open to mating with 40 series products. The 80 PRE features comprehensive connectivity and also includes BluOS streaming built-in. The 80 PWR offers 200 watts per channel in Class-A/B while a bridged configuration converts the 80 PWR into a 300 watts monoblock.

Cyrus Managing Director Nick Clarke told SoundStage! Australia, “It’s been a huge honour to play a part in the rich 40-plus year history of this iconic UK brand. The reaction to the 40 series has been fantastic to see and I am very proud to present these 80 products as the next logical evolution of the brand as we show that, as a fresh new team, we are flexible and responsive to the needs of our customers. Also, this latest “expansion” is far from the end – trust me, there’s still more to come!”.
