The new Gryphon 40, a limited edition commemorative version of Gryphon Audio’s highly acclaimed Diablo 333 integrated amplifier, is a celebratory release for the company’s 40th anniversary.
The Gryphon 40 uses the Diablo 333 as its platform while featuring a number of improvements and individual aspects that make it a worthy special release. For starters, according to Gryphon Audio, the new amplifier features several structural improvements to both the chassis’ exterior and interior. Externally, all that seems evident is a new top plate reminiscent of the Antileon EVO’s and Revelation’s own. Of course, the front panel’s model name is changed appropriately. Also subtly enhanced is the Gryphon creature graphic behind the acrylic display, which now is larger and more prominently featured.
The Gryphon 40 production run will be time-restricted, meaning only a small number of collectable units will be manufactured, with orders taken until December 31, 2025. To reflect that status, the Gryphon 40 will be packaged with a luxurious leather-bound manual, and a commemorative 40th Anniversary personal letter from designer Flemming E. Rasmussen featuring a preliminary hand-signed sketch of the Gryphon 40.
The Gryphon 40 integrated amplifier retains the crucial specifications of the Diablo 333. That means a 0.1 Hz to 350 kHz at -3dB frequency response, an input impedance of 50 kohms for the balanced inputs and 30 kohms for the unbalanced input (20 Hz to 20 kHz), and a low output impedance of 0.015 ohms. The large power supply features a 136,000 micro-Farad capacitor bank and a large Holmgren dual-mono toroidal transformer. Output devices are listed as 10 per channel and are the same transistor types employed in Gryphon Audio Apex power amplifier flagship.

The Gryphon 40 anniversary integrated amplifier will be available to order until 31 December 2025 from Australian importer Advance Audio.
