After a long absence from the Australian market, Oracle Audio returns with its entry level Origine turntable bearing the Canadian company’s trademark design elements, pleasing aesthetics and turntable manufacturing experience.

The Origine reflects an aesthetic reminiscent of Oracle Audio’s legendary models of yesteryear such as the Delphi (now in a Mk.VI Gen-2 update). It may be an entry level turntable for Oracle Audio, however, the Origine is fully manufactured in Canada. The Origine features an acrylic platter inherited from Oracle Audio’s Paris Mk.V turntable and the specially-designed isolating feet first adopted in the company’s top-end CD players.

The Origine also features a two-bushing spindle holder which is a direct derivative of the original Delphi’s main bearing which, as the company states “… are still functioning well today after 30+ years!”. The belt-driven turntable includes an outboard synchronous AC motor which via a two-step pulley system allows playback at 33 ⅓ and 45 rpm.

The Origine comes with a dedicated Origine unipivot tonearm which has been designed with a pivot contact point which is on the same level as the grooves (or stylus contact point). In conjunction with a carefully-designed counterweight system, this is said to provide extremely accurate and stable groove tracking. The arm is internally wired with Cardas cable.

“The compliance of a phono cartridge, or the “springiness” of the cantilever/motor suspension assembly,  plays an important role with unipivot tonearms,” says Oracle Audio, “we address this issue by using a movable arm tube weight that we nicknamed ‘the olive’ which allows to vary the tonearm’s effective mass. This adjustability enables to make a better match of compliance and effective mass, thus allowing the use of a very wide range of phono cartridges with the Origine.”

Oracle Audio’s Origine turntable is available in a choice of black or white and can be optioned with a number of colour inserts while a dedicated acrylic dust cover is also an optional extra.

The Origine turntable’s recommended retail price is $3200 without cartridge and is available for auditioning at the Sound Gallery in Melbourne Victoria.
